Plan Testing, Monitoring and Updating

Does your organization have a continuity or emergency response plan?

If you said “yes,” you are ahead of the game. In a summer 2005 survey of emergency response leaders for municipalities, airports, seaports and state homeland security departments around the country, nearly half (46%) said that their agencies had made little or no improvement in emergency preparedness. This chilling admission from experts comes almost four years after the attacks of 9/11/01.

But before you relax, content in the knowledge that you have a plan, consider these True/False statements:

1. Our plan was written more than 6 months ago.

2. The plan is stored in our office.

3. I, and possibly a select few others, are the only people who have seen it.

4. The plan has not been physically tested.

If you responded “True” to any of these statements, it may be time to take a fresh look at your plan and how it’s managed.

Oppenheim Consulting, LLC tests every plan we develop, monitors organizational changes, and updates your business continuity and emergency preparedness plans regularly. We view preparedness as a process, rather than a destination.
